This study often looks at how the writer uses the descent into savagery on the island to critique human nature. A candidate could practise analysing quotations or work on essay composition, ensuring that their critical responses are well-evidenced and directly address the exam question. This detailed study helps students to develop the analytical skills needed to succeed, a goal that is supported by the positive feedback I have received.

While the secondary years are a time of intense academic study, I also provide support for primary pupils who are preparing for the transition to competitive secondary schools. For those at Gillespie Primary, the entrance examinations process often involves a successful application to schools like City of London or North London Collegiate. We focus on the core skills of verbal reasoning and reading comprehension, ensuring that the student can handle multiple-choice papers and advanced comprehension tasks. A pupil might practise their creative writing, learning how to structure a narrative with clear hooks and a strong vocabulary, while also ensuring their grammar and punctuation are accurate. This preparation is designed to meet the high standards of selective school entry, helping students to secure a place at their first-choice school.
