English Tutor Queensway | GCSE & 11+ Preparation

Families in the vicinity of Queensway and the wider Bayswater district often seek additional academic support to complement the learning at schools such as Hallfield Primary or St Stephen's. My name is David, and as an English tutor with a Bachelor of Education and more than 20 years of experience, I provide a service that addresses the full scope of the GCSE and IGCSE curriculum. A student might examine the intense emotional atmosphere of Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights, looking at how the Victorian morality of the time influences the character motivations. The curriculum may also incorporate the study of Romantic poetry, such as the works of Lord Byron, where we explore the use of advanced imagery and the specific rhyme scheme of the verses. By annotating texts and practising extract questions, students develop the analytical skills necessary to produce well-structured essays. This academic preparation is a key reason why my students have received excellent GCSE results across the major exam boards.

This high standard of academic performance is also a primary goal for younger pupils in the Queensway area who are preparing for competitive entrance examinations in Year 6. Many of these students are targeting admission to prestigious institutions like Godolphin and Latymer or Holland Park. To support these goals, we work on reading comprehension and the development of clear expression in written assessments.
